BROOKLYN LOFT PAINTING TYPE a + b, 2015

CHROMOSPATIAL, 2015
CHASM GALLERY, Brooklyn, NYC

chromo-spatial,
at CHASM, in Brooklyn, New York, explored the medium of painting as it relates to its various support structures, and how colour may be used as a perceptual abstract idea.

Deconstructing the architectural space, Coulter utilizes the inherent nature of a place as a device for site-specific painting. Through a rules based approach, painting and spaces are manipulated through a pre-defined language of colours.

Using the window grid of a traditional Brooklyn loft as a reference point Coulter has created a series of works for this exhibition.
