Nillumbik Prize for Contemporary Art 2019, Montsalvat, Eltham.
Curated by Grace Longato

As a selected finalist for the 2019 Nillumbik Prize for Contemporary Art, Coulter’s entry ‘spatial deconstruction # 20 (barn intervention)’, was a proposition to create a site specific intervention directly onto the mudbrick walls and concrete floor of Montsalvat’s Barn Gallery. Incorporating the rough timber columns and irregular walls within the composition of the work, the artist reframes the gallery as not just a container for viewing the work, but an essential constituent of the outcome.
